Senior Control Manager – Manchester Rail Operating Center and Bridgewater House, Manchester

We're TransPennine Express and we're going places. Whether that's helping customers reach their destination, or ensuring our colleagues feel fulfilled and supported in their careers. We're looking for people with drive and enthusiasm to join our amazing team and help push for more progress within the rail industry. We look forward to meeting new faces and eager minds, ready to join our mission of creating a better-connected network in the North and Scotland, for good.

The Senior Control Manager will be a key part of the leadership team at TransPennine Express. Reporting to the Head of Service Delivery, our Senior Control Manger will provide inspiring and engaging leadership and management to the operations management professionals in our Operations Control Centre. This team, working in the Rail Operations Centre in Ashburys, Manchester, manages TPE's real time railway operations, keeping rolling stock and crew aligned with the plan and responding to perturbations, disruption and amendments to keep our customers moving safely and reliably. Our Senior Control Manager will develop and retain Duty Control Manager competences, although sitting outside the Duty Control Manager roster, to provide resilience in the Control team and to ensure that the Senior Control Manager is equipped to provide in-touch, expert leadership and guidance to the team, helping it to find expert answers to the problems that the operating railway throws its way.

The Senior Control Manager will have a keen eye for a stock and crew plan and how it is best delivered both in steady state running conditions and in times of disruption or perturbation. Equally as importantly, you will bring with you strong experience of team leadership and management, providing the team with effective pastoral care and managing the frameworks such as rosters, annual leave, personal development and performance appraisal for the team.

Working with the Head of Service Delivery, the Senior Control Manager will represent TPE in both inter-departmental and pan-industry interfaces such as those managing the network performance and resilience plan, timetable development, contingency planning, and business system development. As TransPennine Express plays its part in the large and complex TransPennine Route Upgrade programme and other associated railway development schemes, the Senior Control Manager will support Head of Service Delivery in the programme steering us successfully through the change and into the strengthened railway beyond.

As the Senior Control Managers arrives in post, they will forge strong relationships with the Control Centre team and Head of Service Delivery before looking outward and taking charge of the team's interfaces with other TPE departments and the wider industry within which TPE operates.

If that sounds like the right fit for you, we'd love to hear from you, please click apply and complete an application form.
